the TREASURES of TUTENKAMEN

Wood & Ivory Veneered Chest
Carved in relief and coloured on the lid and sides are scenes which are among the outstanding masterpieces of Tutankhamun's tomb. Each scene is bordered by garlands and other floral elements set within the frame of red and blue plaques seperated by white placques composed of strips of ebony and ivory.
the King & Queen are shown in a style reminiscent of the art of the preceding amarna period. Perhaps the most striking difference is that Akhenaton and Nefertiti are generalaly represented participating almost as equal partners in the performance of some activity, whereas the role of Ankhensenamun tends to be rather subservient, that of an intimate companion who attends to Tutankhamun's needs.
