the TREASURES of TUTANKHAMUN

This scepter is made of sheet gold beaten on a wooden core. The handle represents a papyrus flower and stem with a feather-pattern design at each end, inlaid with carnelian, turquois, lapis luzuli, feldspar, faience, and glass. On the side of the blade is a line of inscription reading " the good god (i.e. Tutankhamun), the beloved, dazzling of face like Anton when it shines, the son of Anum, Nebkheperura, living forever." Above the inscription is a frieze of lotus petals. On the other side of the blade are rows of trussed and slaughtered bulls.
